If you've ever wondered...
- Am I doing this right?
- What muscles am I actually supposed to relax?
- What should pelvic floor relaxation even feel like?

Hi! I'm Dr. Lance Frank, a pelvic health physical therapist, and this is the exact foundation I teach patients in the clinic before we move on to anything else.
In this short, easy-to-follow mini-course, I'll show you exactly how to relax your pelvic floor using the same breathing and movement progression I've taught hundreds of patients.
No guessing.
No confusing anatomy lectures.
Just a practical skill you'll use for years to come.

So... what exactly is an overactive pelvic floor?
One of the easiest ways I explain an overactive pelvic floor to patients is this:
Imagine walking around doing a Kegel contraction all day long.
Not on purpose.
Just unconsciously.
Your pelvic floor muscles stay lightly clenched throughout the day and never seem to fully relax.
Over time, your body gets so used to holding that tension that it starts to feel normal. You may not even realize you're doing it anymore.
In the clinic, I jokingly call these people the "tight-asses."
Not as an insult.
Just because they're literally walking around with a tight ass all day.
These are often the people who are constantly on the go, carry stress in their bodies, or simply have pelvic floor muscles that have forgotten how to fully let go.
The good news?
Just because your pelvic floor has learned to stay tense doesn't mean it can't learn to relax.
Like any other movement skill, pelvic floor relaxation can be learned.
And that's exactly what I'll teach you in this mini-course.
Why learn this?
This isn't just about taking deep breaths.
It's about learning how to coordinate your breathing with your pelvic floor so those muscles finally know how to let go.
Learning to relax your pelvic floor isn't just another exercise.
It's a skill.
Just like learning to squat.
Or learning to breathe correctly during lifting.
Or learning how to balance on one foot.
Once you understand what pelvic floor relaxation actually feels like, you'll have a tool you can use for the rest of your life.
It's one of the very first things I teach patients because it's a foundation that many other exercises build upon.
Whether your goal is improving pelvic pain, bladder symptoms, bowel function, or sexual health...
Learning how to let these muscles relax is often the first step.
